5 Mistakes to Avoid When Aplying Eyebrow Makeup

5 Mistakes to Avoid When Aplying Eyebrow Makeup

There’s nothing like beautifully defined brows to intensify your look and give your face character. However, if you don’t use the right makeup techniques you can quickly end up with an eyebrow disaster. Here are five common mistakes you should never make.

1. APPLYING MOISTURIZER TO YOUR BROWS BEFORE MAKEUP.

The product’s greasy texture can make your pencil run or powder slide off over the course of the day. For makeup that goes the distance, avoid applying moisturizer to your brows during your skincare routine.

2. UNDERESTIMATING THE POWER OF EYEBROW GEL.

Whether you’re a pro or beginner, everyone can use this incredible product. It allows you to set your eyebrows in a snap for results that hold all day long. A few upward brush strokes and you’re good to go. Some gels even come tinted to boost volume or thickness for sparse or very fine eyebrows.

3. USING A SHADE THAT’S TOO DARK.

Choosing the right pencil or powder colour is essential for flawless eyebrow makeup. A shade that’s too dark will harden your gaze, while a tone that’s too pale will give you a pasty complexion. The rule is simple: choose a shade that’s as close as possible to your own brows. Having trouble finding the perfect colour? Mix two tones to get the results you want.

4. DRAWING YOUR EYEBROW LINE IN ONE GO.

Your application technique is just as important as your colour. For natural results, you have to respect the shape of your brow, draw short, light lines, and begin in the fullest section of your eyebrows, shading in lightly toward the ends. If you want eyes that really pop, extend the line slightly outwards.

TIP

Use powder to define and enhance your brows. If you want to fill in patchy eyebrows, use a pencil as it has more pigment and is more precise.

5. USING TOO MUCH MAKEUP.

A general rule is to use your makeup products sparingly. Overdoing your eyebrow makeup won’t help you enhance or intensify them. Instead, going overboard with your pencil or gel will make you look clownish. The results should always be as natural-looking as possible.
